asja-markaz-2013

ASJA Markaz did the double by winning both the TML Cricket Fun Division and Open Division Titles at the TML Centre, Eastern Main Road St Joseph.

In the Fun Division final, hosts and defending champions TML St. Joseph Youths started off poorly but managed to pose a respectable 62 for 5 thanks to Ashmead Khan undefeated 17 runs. ASJA Markaz Youths paced their innings nicely and thanks to some poor fielding by the hosts managed to get home with just a ball to spare. Afraz Ali with 26 not out made sure of a nail bitting win for ASJA Markaz Youths.

In the Open Division final defending Champions ASJA Markaz won the toss and chose to bat first. Diego Martin kept taking wickets regularly but good knocks from man of the match and skipper Aamir 16, Travis 15, and Faaiq 14 ensured that they posted a respectable 92 for 6. At Diego Martin’s turn at the crease they got off to a good start and was always in the running, but when Joey was 3rd out for a top score of 25 runs at 61 for 3 ASJA Markaz begun to turn up the heat and look like the champions they are. They eventually bowled them out for 77 to retain the 2013 TML/R. Khan/Eniath’s Printing Windball Cricket Tournament Title and 7500 prize money.
